Do it or don’t:
- Beth and Jessica: Don’t buy a souvenir when you go to Disneyland! Let the pictures be your souvenir.
- Emily: The rides are great, but take some time to enjoy the ambiance! Sit and people watch and don’t rush from ride to ride.
- Jeremy: Spring for a park hopper ticket so you can enjoy both parks in one day and take advantage of wait times in the parks.
Here are our Disneyland Money and Time-Saving Tips:
- Travel
- See show notes for episode 2 for travel tips
- Airports to fly into near Disneyland:
- LAX (Los Angeles)
- LGB (Long Beach)
- SNA (Orange County)
- BUR (Burbank)
- Budget airlines recommendations:
- Lodging
- Disney Vacation Club
- Airbnb instead of a hotel (click here for an affiliate link that gets you $25 off your first booking!)
- Compare prices with Trivago and then book with the actual hotel website
- Good Neighbor hotels (near Disneyland and a bit cheaper)
- Disney World: we recommend the Art of Animation hotel!
- Tickets
- Don’t buy tickets from a person or on eBay!
- Trusted third party sellers
- Canadian resident deal (only for multi-day tickets)
- Multi-day tickets (through Disneyland)
- Time
- Crowd calendar – gives a predication of when there will be bigger crowds
- Get there for rope drop (when the park opens) to take advantage of the short lines at the beginning of the day
- Single rider ride list (plus, at California Adventure, you can do the Monsters Inc. ride with a “buddy pass” – so if you have 2 people, ask at the entrance and you can go in a separate line with your friend!)
- MaxPass information (Update: MaxPass is now $15/person day. In the show we mention it was $10/day – but the price went up in January.)
- Food
- Bring as much food as you want!
- Share a meal in the park (see pictures below for the $12 taco meal Beth mentions)
- Souvenirs
- Buy souvenirs ahead of time
- Set aside cash (or buy gift cards)
- Tell children they can buy one souvenir for their trip – and have them choose it at the end of the trip!
- Pin trading

- Plus…
- Here is a blog that Beth wrote about her super frugal Disney day (when she was getting out of debt)
